Originally, Lavris is a small swimming-bay by the mouth of the Geropotamos creek, some 17 kms East of the City of Rethymnon and 4 kms West of Panormo.

The name today stands for the entire 8 kms long coast section between Panormo and the Cape of Scaleta. Due to the marvellous views of the Aegean Sea and the mountain massifs, two hotel resorts were raised on the creek's east bank. Since some years there is a small curbstone labyrinth on the west bank, prepared for a future settlement of holiday villas and retirement homes.

2 villas already exist by the westernmost and easternmost edges of the planned settlement.
